Pricing FAQs
What am I paying for in order to track my assets?
The GPS part of tracking is free, compliments of the United States government putting satellites in place for public use. There is no limitation on using this service. Communications are often where the cost of tracking is. Using cellular networks in order to convey data is something the cellular carriers control. Using satellite networks for communicating this data is usually even more expensive than cellular. Mapping data may also incur additional costs. The agencies that gather this data charge higher price premiums for the highest quality data. Finally, hardware is often the largest cost in tracking, encompassing both tracking devices and the computer hardware needed to run the Cygnus Track software.
How can I get the process moving? Can I see a demo of the system?
Should I purchase a Starter Kit?
The easiest way to see Cygnus Track in action is to try our free online demo. The demo gives you access to a fully-functioning installation of Cygnus Track so you can see the full range of the software's capabilities.
If you'd like to try Cygnus Track in your own environment, your best option is to purchase a Starter Kit. A Cygnus Track Starter Kit gives you everything you need to track one asset for a full month. Starter Kits are available preconfigured with a Sanav CT-24 portable tracking device; more than one device may also be included for an additional charge. When I buy a device license, is it tied to a particular device or can I swap it for a different device?
No, your license is not tied to a particular device. When you purchase a device license, it is considered a "floating license" and is only required for active devices.
How much does using the GPS system cost?
GPS is free and there is no limit on usage.
Is there a plan offered where I don't have to do anything but turn on the device?
Yes, we have Starter Kits available where you get a device configured and ready to start tracking when it arrives at your door. You don't need to arrange for a SIM, data plans, configuring devices, or anything else. Just mention that you want a Starter Kit and we'll take care of the rest. To see a list of suggested GPS tracking devices and read more details about our Starter Kits, see our GPS Tracking Devices area. Can we purchase a one-time license and not pay monthly access fees?
Yes you can, if you choose the Cygnus Track Enterprise Edition or Integrator Edition. These editions are among the only web-based GPS tracking systems that can be installed in-house and licensed up-front, so you can avoid paying monthly fees. And with Integrator Edition, there are no per-device licensing fees whatsoever. If you have the staff to maintain the system, you can literally save tens of thousands of dollars every year by supporting your own solution. Cygnus Track Enterprise and Integrator editions may also work with your existing hardware, allowing you to break free from your current provider. If you have questions about the licensing options of Cygnus Track, you may contact one of our knowledgeable sales representatives and they will be happy to assist you.
Are there monthly fees to use Cygnus Track?
Cygnus Track Hosted Edition is designed to be hosted by ThinkGeo, and as such, there is a $495 monthly system access fee. The Enterprise and Integrator editions give you the freedom to host the system in-house for a single, one-time license fee, saving you thousands of dollars over the long term.
