What are the advantages and disadvantages of cellular and satellite devices?
Can I use CDMA instead of GSM?
Cellular tracking is typically quicker than using satellites. Satellite tracking may be more reliable, as satellites rarely suffer from outages. CDMA tracking devices usually provide better data throughput than GSM devices but usually cost more up front.
What can I do with satellite tracking devices?
Satellite tracking devices often offer the same features you would expect from a cellular tracking device. Typically the communication is not as quick but with satellite communication you get guaranteed delivery where with cellular you can experience dead spots and network outages.
Do you support two-way communication? Can you use tracking devices like a phone?
With the right tracking device installed, you can communicate via text message or voice.
What is the difference between satellite devices? Which satellite devices use which networks? What devices do you work with from either?
Low Earth Orbiting satellites (LEOs) are often deployed in satellite constellations, because the coverage area provided by a single LEO satellite covers a small area, and the satellite travels at a high angular velocity to maintain its orbit. Many LEO satellites are needed to maintain continuous coverage over an area. This contrasts with geostationary satellites, where a single satellite, moving at the same angular velocity as the rotation of the Earth's surface, provides permanent coverage over a large area.
